Gast Haus

This was my third time in Porticello (my family comes from there). The Gasthaus for me was kind of new even though I knew their name since I was younger, but they were located in an other site in the village. For the three visits (that could vary from 4-5 or even 10 to 12 days, this really beautiful restaurant/pizzeria, has become my every evening dinner place. I recommend this establishment without even a small second thought after I have seen and experienced a very friendly staff welcoming their customers. They allow pets and they really look after families with small children. I see every generation of people going dining @ the Gasthaus and it doesn't surprise me at all basically because they serve excellent food, and they offer a great service at an affordable price. I tasted many dishes from their menu from various starter plates to mains as pastas and pizzas to meat and/or fish and seafood dishes and everything was and is always tasteful and really satisfying. I have been here with a group of 5 friends seeking to enjoy some sea food. We were very disappointed: the prices are rather high (17-19 euros for the main dish), and the quality is exremely low. We were really very disappointed. There has been many years since I last tasted such a low quality sea food. Finaly, I developed indigestion. Avoid this place.

Having eaten twice at this restaurant I can thoroughly recommend it. Very clean, modern and comfortable restaurant with views out over the sea. Menu is interesting and slightly quirky. We tried the burger in Roquefort and walnut sauce, grilled steak done to perfection, various bruschettas as well as a pizzas and salads. Instead of ordinary breadsticks they provide delicious strips of pizza dough garnished with tomato and sesame seeds. We like our food well flavoured so enjoyed the opportunity to add from the selection of olive oils, chilli flakes, black pepper as well as balsamic vinegar to our salad. (Salad was a bit light on the anchovies). The desserts were delicious, lemon sorbet and almond parfait with hot chocolate sauce!
